So sad this evening

This is way to close to home....practically in our backyard.

Please pray for this mother as she seeks to get answers to this and is so close to Mother's Day. Although the little boy is younger than ours and we did not know him personally.

GARLAND, Texas - A boy and a man were found dead in a Garland park on Friday morning as the result of a murder-suicide, police said.

A dog walker discovered the bodies at about 7:15 a.m. in One Eleven Ranch Park in the 2100 block of E. Brand Road.

Garland Officer Joe Harn identified them as 37-year-old Matthew Knapp and his 10-year-old son Brody. They had been reported missing, he said.

Investigators found a pistol at the scene and they believe Knapp shot his son and then turned the gun on himself, Harn said.

Friends and neighbors said they are surprised. They said Knapp was a loving husband and father of three children.

DeSoto Player Partially
Paralyzed

DeSOTO, Texas - A junior varsity football player at DeSoto High School was seriously injured during spring football practice Wednesday night.

According to the school district, 16-year-old sophomore Corey Barner injured his spinal cord during a tackled on the field.

Spokeswoman Beth Trimble said Barner was rushed to the hospital. He was in surgery for about 7 hours Friday so doctors could repair a cervical vertebrae fracture.

DeSoto coaches said Barner -- a defensive back -- was using proper form on the field. His head must have been slightly in the wrong place when he took the hard hit, they said.

Following the surgery, they said he was able to move his hands and fingers, but not his toes.

Barner's family has not released details about his long-term prognosis.

Please lift these families in prayer~~
